During his three terms on the Telluride Town Council (lastly as Mayor Pro Tem) Steve helped form the laws that have preserved our quality of life, not to mention property values. Graduating from Bucknell with an accounting degree, Steve came to Telluride in 1973 to run the first ski shop at the base of the lifts, shortly after becoming an owner of what is now Telluride Sports. In 1990 he traveled to Moab to build a successful brewery and restaurant "Eddie McStiff's" with 80 employees and nights serving over 1,000 dinners. As Brewmaster, Steve won many Best of Show awards for his fabulous beers. In two short years he was made a Director of the Chamber of Commerce and President of the Rotary Club.

Steve stays busy skiing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, dirt biking, rafting and flying model sailplanes. Jenny, Steve’s wife of 30 years, a local accountant, is active as a Director of the Colorado association of School Boards, and a long term board member of the Telluride School Board. Chas (24) is a level 2 Sommelier and Elizabeth (19) is a freshman at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
